About Beth Rose
I am a lifelong Alaskan whose passion for photography began during my teenage years with a manual 35 mm film camera and a dark room that my father built in our basement. Photography allowed me to pay attention close attention to the world around me, and to observe and capture colors, lights, patterns and intriguing scenes. As an undergraduate, I studied filmmaking along with my history degree, seeking to blend powerful storytelling with impactful imagery.
While I now use DSLR cameras, an array of lenses and digital editing, my passion for photography and capturing special moments in time remains the same. I am inspired by what I see in almost every setting, and I often lug around a camera or pack it in my backpack so I won't miss a shot.

Engaging in nature and wildlife photography evokes in me a profound sense of wonder and gratitude. I treasure the ability to detach from schedules and electronic devices and instead immerse myself in my surroundings, whether they be a rainforest or a glacial ice field. I find that hiking, backpacking, biking and kayaking often me to discover amazing places.
My goal is to capture the light and moods of the scenes that I am fortunate enough to experience and hope that these photos transport you to these special places, whether in Alaska or other parts of the world.
